As an introductory post, I decided to embed a video that I’ve really gotten to like so far. One of my personal bests from Anthony (Tony) Robbins; a motivational speaker that I hold dear because a lot of his material has guided and influenced me in phenomenal ways. Here we go:

Eliminate the Downtime

Jul 11, 2011 by

The higher your energy level, the more efficient your body. The more efficient your body, the better you feel and the more you will use your talent to produce outstanding results. - Tony Robbins

  • Woke up this morning (Oh, wow. Its another day again)
  • After ‘snoozing’ the alarm clock countless times, got up to a crazy yawn (I wish I could sleep for a few more hours even though was sleeping for 10)
  • Dragged self to the bathroom, cleaned up and did all the necessary stuff
  • Got on the road and the day officially started
  • *fast forward 9 hours* The day is over. Ah, blah! It was a good day. Glad its over.

Every single one of us has the ability to do AMAZING things. If we can find the energy we have inside and gravitate towards doing what we’re meant to be doing. Does the earlier scenario in this article describe you? Wake up wanting to go back to sleep, waltz through your day and always being ‘thankful’ its over? I definitely find myself having a lot of those kind of days too. Its called the ‘motions’. Waiting on the next thing to jolt you to action. No energy or passion whatsoever. That is… downtime. You may feel like you’re fine and you’re performing good at work, doing what you’re meant to do and living life like you love it but pause and imagine how much MORE you can do if you start your day with some awesome positive energy. Ever seen the battery of a moving object run down? How it just slowly moves for a while till it grinds to a halt? That’s exactly what downtime looks like as pertains to progress and achievement. If your downtime enables you do amazing things, possibilities are you can do 10 times more amazing things if you had the right amount of energy.

How do you ‘find’ the energy you need to achieve amazing results? Find the excitement in whatever you’ve chosen to do. Even though today’s situation might be less than ideal, consider the flight of an airplane. It expends a LOT of energy to gravitate to ‘cruise-able’ altitudes even though its destination could be tens of thousands of miles away. Then glides for a while… And then with another jolt of energy lands exactly where it had planned on being. Realize that you are where you are right now; reading this article for a reason. You don’t need to have found the reason yet. There’s always something to be excited about regardless of the circumstance. Find your excitement, generate your energy and soar to great heights and you WILL find the reason you are where you are, and find or start to chart the path to where you’re going. Remember the view is always better from the top *hint*.

Getting the right amount of energy starts in the beginning of your day. Jump off your bed and refuse to be weighed down by the morning. Set sometime aside for meditation. Focus on the hope, excitement and great things about the day; trust me, there are a lot so find them. Open your window, appreciate the nature around you. Let the sun slap you in the face and then get your day started. There’s this certain India Arie song I listen to that puts me in the ‘zone’ when I’m struggling to find it. Its called “A Beautiful Day”. If its a song that works for you, find it.

In conclusion, you’re performing at 50% or less without the right amount of energy. We all know how it feels when we get out of the house with that positive, larger than life energy. And we also know how we perform good at everything when the energy is right. Don’t cheat yourself out on life. This one depends on you and not any other person. We’ve been equipped with everything we need to get charged up so go out and get it. Eliminate the downtime!
