Believe In Yourself

I was doing a personal review of myself lately and a few things came to my mind about personalities and affirmation. Do we realize how much power we give to the people around us? How someone tells you you’re looking good and all of a sudden your day brightens up and you feel good all through the day? Or how someone gives you an awful look and you get self conscious for the rest of the day? We tend to forget that we also have ourselves to uplift ourselves regardless of what anyone says or does. Does this mean affirmation from people around you is not important? No! But we’re going somewhere with this.

As with almost everything in life, there’s a spiral effect. Possibilities are that when you get your first compliment for the day, you brighten up. You feel confident and pretty or handsome. And as a result, you get more compliments and the day keeps getting better and better. You’ll perform better at work, have a better attitude and get even more affirmations from people in other things that have nothing to do with your look because that first compliment uplifted you. Same goes for getting a bad vibe or outrightly hearing from someone that you look bad. The day also takes a downward spiral. You get self conscious, fall on your face, can’t get anything right at work and just have a bad day altogether.

Now here’s the catch. You can be the one to give yourself that first compliment or that first boost that sends your day in an upward spiral. These things are generated from within. First things first, be confident in your own skin. If you’re tall, short, skinny or plump… Accept that it is who you are at least at this very moment. If there’s something you don’t like about yourself that you can change, get on an action plan to have it changed immediately (that’s another topic for another day). But yes, accept yourself exactly the way you are today. There’s something to appreciate about yourself regardless of your inconsistencies. Find those things and accentuate them. Chances are when you do a good job at accentuating your assets before stepping outside your door, you’ll come out feeling confident and radiant. You’ll start out your day feeling like you can take over the world.

The key here today is that you can have yourself positively empowered everyday if you learn how to find affirmation from within and then initiate the spiral effect for yourself. I used looks as an instance in this piece because it is one thing I know a lot of people can relate to but this applies to everything. Career, sports, projects, etc. With you or your team believing and being passionate right from day one, you send out the energy you need to get more energy from the world around you.

  1. Believe in yourself
  2. Believe in whatever is worth your time
  3. Don’t wait for the rest of the world to empower you. Affirm yourself knowing that your effort is a seed that will grow and create a spiral of affirmations from the world around you.

If A Dog Can Do it, We All Certainly Can!

“A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down.” – Arnold H. Glasow

Hey fam!! I hope your October has been great thus far! Mine has been very busy! :-( But I’m grateful that I have something productive to keep me busy! :-D There’s something else I’m grateful for…True friends.

Even though the definition of a true friend varies from one individual to the next, I believe one universal attribute of a true friend is selflessness! A true friend is willing to go the extra mile for you; to place your affairs before theirs; to make tremendous sacrifices for you. It’s a display of love; one that will never be forgotten.

A few minutes ago, I watched a video a friend of mine posted on facebook that I believe sums this all up. I was so touched by it, and couldn’t resist the urge to share it with you – my seeds in words fam! Please learn all you can from it, and sincerely ask yourself this question: Am I really a true friend? ….If a dog can do it, we all certainly can!

How great leaders inspire action – Simon Sinek

I watched this video today! Gotta say I¬†applauded¬†right after on my chair watching from my laptop. Makes perfect sense and can be applied to almost every phase of life. Enjoy and watch multiple times if you need to ‘get it’. Keyword is this… You inspire action by telling ‘why’, then ‘how’ and then ‘what’. I wish I could express in words how well I see this picture in my head. Anyways, embedded below. Savor it…

As an introductory post, I decided to embed a video that I’ve really gotten to like so far. One of my personal bests from Anthony (Tony) Robbins; a motivational speaker that I hold dear because a lot of his material has guided and influenced me in phenomenal ways. Here we go:

Enjoy!

Steve Jobs, 1955-2011: We Won’t Forget

I believe we have shared this video before but we will share it again.

RIP Steve Jobs

Now more than ever, you need these ~15 minutes that WILL change your life. In tribute, thank you Steve Jobs for your role in pioneering consumer technology as we know it and your story to inspire our generation and those after us. Some of us have built our dreams out of your reality. You have definitely put footsteps on the sands of time and you will be remembered. I shared with a friend earlier today when the news was released; In as much as we would all love to be a part of Steve’s will (who wouldn’t), we all are part of it in a way which is not tangible. However, its a choice we have to make about whether to take our part or not. Steve left a legacy that every single one of us can emulate and learn from. Take and act on some of the points addressed in this video alone and you could totally change the trajectory of your life. You could be much more than he was and even make much more than he could have possibly given to you through his will. An old Chinese proverb says “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” You have your lesson on fishing in his legacy and what he stood for while he was alive. Now are you going to take your share? Go out into the deep and catch some fish? Remember, “Stay hungry, stay foolish”.

We won’t forget!
