Put the Pieces Together…

“Outstanding success comes when you identify your strengths and make friends with those whose strengths are your weaknesses.”

Imagine an artist making a collage. He puts the picture together piece by piece. The pieces are not necessarily from the same source (pieces of scrap books and pictures), but he arranges the collection in such a way that the end product comes out to be so pretty.

For us to achieve great success, we must think of our lives in the same way an artist thinks of a collage. The only difference is: the pieces in this case would be people. The fact that no one can achieve great success alone cannot be overemphasized. We cannot do everything ourselves. We need people…the right people.

We need to identify those people who can do the things we can’t do. We need to identify the people whose strengths are our weaknesses! This applies to every area of our lives. To excel academically, we need to make friends with people who are better than we are at the courses we’re struggling with. In creating a business, too. You might have have the idea, but neither the managerial skills, the technical skills nor the IT skills. So, what do you do? You find people that have those skills – they might be friends. And together you’ll make that idea come to life! It’s how the differences individuals bring come together to increase the strength of the group that makes diversity rock! Collage is the name of the game! :-)

Really, it doesn’t take much to put the pieces together. Start with one piece. Identify someone who has a skill that is crucial to your success and work a little closer to him. Let him help you in that area. And who knows…? Maybe after a little while, you might become incredibly good as well! :-D
